Our Last Visit to the Ancient Ram inn Left us with some unsolved mysteries. Who was the spirit that showed the partial apparition we saw of an arm in the barn? Who was it that made the sound of dragging noises in the bishops room above? Why does the Incubus/ Succubus who we now know as ''Illea'' still hangs around after all this time? We are braving it back to find out those answers.....The Ancient Ram Inn is a very strong contender for being the most haunted place in England, maybe even the UK. It has that many reported ghosts, spirits and apparitions, its very very active. John Humphries, the owner,is a very welcoming host to his wonderful amazing and haunted home, and this teamed up with the activity, makes it a must see to investigate. This Location is part of the Darkness Arises Selection. The Dark Areas are in the Barn and Also the Attic, and plus this is darkness of a differant kind also......
The former Inn dates back to the 12th century, built on an ancient pagan burial site. The Ram Inn stands on a ley line running between Ley farm and Hetty Peglar's Tump, a stone age burial mound, could this be the reason for the paranormal activity at the Inn. The first recorded use was for housing for the stone masons who worked on the construction of the nearby St Mary's Church. The church owned it afterwards and housed the local Bishop hence the famous "Bishops Room". The original property is believed to have been 3 times the size of the building that stands today. In the bar area there are remains of a tunnel system. It is believed to link the Inn with St Mary's Church and may have been used by highwaymen to escape the local judiciary. Woottens last two highwaymen was known to have frequented the Inn. The property became an Inn during the late 19th century, before John Humphries bought it in 1968. The Inn is now a private residence. There is evidence to suggest the premises had devil worshipping rituals taking place as in the Mens Kitchen area a grave was excavated and the remains of a woman and child was found alongside some knives. The Bristol Museum who studied the bodies and artefacts believed they had been killed in ritualsacrifice.The Bishops Room has been reported to having claimed to have seen at least 9 different entities. A cavalier, two monks and two nuns, shepherd and his dog, in the double bed an Incubus and Succumbus have appeared depending on the gender of the sleeper. Both are believed to be created by black magic rituals or witchcraft. A young lady has also been seen hanging from the ceiling. In the chimney, when it was opened up, satanic artefacts was found. Our experience in the bishops room July 2012 the shadow meter kept registering when asked to sit on the end of the bed, then register when asked to move.Next to the kitchen is a former stable which is now the living area. This is where John sleeps and upon reading one of the newspaper articles our lead investigator was grabbed by the head in July 2012. Lights are reported by the door and a teenager was thrown and saw by several witnesses on one paranormal tour. John believes the malevolent spirit in this room is an incubus in the form of a 7ft shadow. An incubus is a spirit or demon and is caused by witchcraft or black magic rituals. The Succubus has also has been in bed with John on occasions.In the former bar room ghosts have been seen, cold spots and clawing sounds, to which we heard. Reportedly there is an Inn keeper which has been seen and also a lady by the name of Elizabeth.When a painting of the local Reverend was put up, all hell broke loose. The dogs refused to go up the stairs once the picture was hung, knocks and bangs on the doors and windows and several puddles of water in several of the Inn's rooms and strange smells.The Kitchen effects women visitors often feeling cold spots and dizziness.The Witches room the spirit of a woman and a cat have been seen and orbs have been captured on camera and video. There is also a witch, to which our medium sensed it was some high preistess called Mary Gibbons was involved in debauchery and dark rituals and killed thier sacrificial by means of suffocation.The Attic (to which you can only go up the stairs one at a time) we had brilliant activity. On the ouija Charles Lancery the priest acknowledged in two separate groups he murdered in 1290(July 2012 visit), and you can clearly hear on video the door opening and closing when asking him to join us. He protects the building and John. However he has a dark side, he murdered his own illegitime daughter Rosie, and strangely enough, John read on the night a passage in the bible about Abraham being told to sacrifice his own child.November 2012 visit proved very eventful. Andy got pushed twice in the barn, enough to knock him over. Also in the barn light streaks occur and the doorway to the barn lit up by Rosie on command. Now Rosie, although we helped her on the July 2012 visit, she is no longer grounded and comes in visitation and this was confirmed on the November 2012 visit on the K2 meters in the Witches Room. The witches room itself had us baffled when a lightbulb from a lamp unscrewed itself and threw itself on the floor! The Witches room there were knocks and bangs outside. When we asked if they wanted us to follow them into the Bishops room across the hallway, the Witches room door unlatched itself. Upon entering the Bishops Room there was this almightiest big exhale of breath that came towards us and the K2 meters stayed on red for a full 3 minutes. The Bar was brilliant at the end of the night and we had k2 meters dotted about and they all went on red when asked. We cheered and after this cheer came the voice of Mary Gibbons and we all heard her mumbling. We also saw the curtain twich as well. The Innkeeper Tom said on the automatic handwriting planchette he was around in the 1880's and asked if he lived there. He said no. Asking why, he replied with ' Ghosts' so even back then in the 19th century the building was known to be haunted! Charles Lancery confirmed on the planchette in 1311 he died.January 2013 visit, we had many guests heads being touched on top, shadows seen in the bar. One guest was sat on a stool near to the tunnel entrance at the fireplace and felt his stool being taken from underneath him. In the witches room we had a sigh by Mary in the ear and she happened to make here presence known again in the Bishops room by rattling the locked wardrobe door at the end of the night. Lights were seen in the bar around the size of a golf ball.Your event will include
