Taught by clinical anatomists and consultant surgeons, this intensive 2-day revision course is intended to help surgical trainees prepare for the OSCE part of the MRCS exam. This highly reputed and established course, which will take into consideration the changes to the Intercollegiate MRCS Part B OSCE with effect from February 2013 (click here to view), will consolidate the candidate's core and applied surgical knowledge in anatomy; provide a focused revision of pertinent exam topics in this area, and; aid the candidate's aptitude to approach the OSCE stations in a systematic and concise manner. There will be interactive tutorials in radiology and surface anatomy. The course has half day dedicated to OSCE where, in addition to surgical anatomy (prosections, osteology and surface anatomy), there are stations in surgical pathology, surgical radiology, and applied surgical sciences/critical care.
Teaching format:
Demonstration using anatomical prosections and cross-sections
Small groups tutorials in osteology, topographic and surface anatomy
Interactive session in radiology
Mock OSCE:
There will be a total of 20-25 OSCE stations and every candidate will go through all the stations. Each OSCE station will be for six minutes. In addition, there will be a 90 minute exam to evaluate applied knowledge pertinent to the syllabus.
