Drakelow Tunnels are spread over 285,000 square feet. Originally constructed for use by Rover in WWII under the Ministry of Aircraft Production's Shadow Factory Scheme, the tunnels were mainly used for machine workshops and additional storage for Rover. After WWII the tunnels got a second lease of life during the Cold War where the Government took control of the site as a Regional Seat of Government (RSG) in case of a nuclear attack. Less than a half of the site was converted for use during the Cold War period, where new rooms and equipment were installed. The RSG would accommodate important local and national government personnel as well as the armed forces and a small amount of medical staffIn the 1980's the Government refurbished many parts of the nuclear side although this was short lived as the site was sold off in the early 1990's when the Cold War had ended. During the construction of Drakelow there have been 6 rumoured deaths. From roof collapses to fatal human error.  Most hauntings in the tunnels 1-4 are connected with their traumatic and tragic deaths. There have been many reports of experiences of activity by the visitors and more recent workers inside the tunnels. The presence of a worker who died during its construction is still known to move objects. It was reported that whilst the current caretaker of the site was working in the nuclear side, his dogs were barking in the corner of one room. When the caretaker came to see what was happening, he saw no reason for the commotion. The same caretaker has had the feeling of being watched in the complex. Visit Walter, the caretaker of the building who has thrown stones as well as turning round a reflector 90 degrees on our last visit. Theres a demonic presence in the canteen. The Hospital was home to noises and in the raf area, we was touched and stones were thrown on command.November 23rd 2012 visit had Prestige Paranormal gripped again, pitch black as per the usuall. Tunnel 1 we heard footsteps and tapping noises very very close by. In the canteen there were taps, clunks and clinks and k2's went off here. In the bbc room and the comms room there was great table tipping right onto one leg. The spirits we had this time was our usuall Walter the Caretaker, George an engineer, Charles Sawyer in the BBC room a well as Dorothy. Annie and Gladys who worked in the administration area who loved the male attention they had whilst working there. What Gemma one of our team hosts had to say about Drakelow Tunnels:'' Twice ive been here now and I would have thought that the second visit would not be as ominous as the first. I was so wrong. The atmosphere is electric. You do feel like you are being followed and watched constantly.... and thats with a the torch on, let alone off! When the lights are off its pitch black. You cannot see your hand infront of your face. Its such a maze as well with tunnels and rooms all interconnected in a square. I would have to describe the tunnels like the streets of New York with the grid system that they have. Even as staff, I most certainly would not like to go on my own. Its the biggest venue out of them all on the circuit and you could do this place again and again and still never cover it all.''Your event will include * An overnight investigation with the Prestige Paranormal investigation team* Welcome meeting* snacks during the night- which includes,  flapjacks, brownies, muffins, chocolate bars and sausage rolls. (bring own hot drinks as no electric in base room)* Mediumship /Historical walkaround* Mediumship vigil- Dowsing rods, pendulums, psychometry experiments, singapore experiment using music/sounds from days gone by.* Victoriana vigil- Ouija Board (optional) glass divination, table tipping.* Equipment vigil - emf (k2) meters, laser thermometers, laser grid pens, motion sensors, super hearing enhancers, franks box, light intensity meter.* Group vigil, we will hold a mass group vigil at the end. * Debriefing session at the end.
